Welcome at the Varna Summer International Jazz Festival web site!

Anatoly Vapirov started the festival in 1992. By now the festival has become "one-of-a-kind" and is one of the few "Avant-garde" Jazz festivals, were projects form the core of the concerts given by a variety of musicians, rooting from all over the world.

Even though there is so much to tell about the festival, from it's birth till now, we reduce the amount of material on this page to some pieces, written by Yordan Rupchev and Vladimir Gadjev. This gives a nice overview on some of the Varna Summer International Jazz Festival editions from 1992 (when it started) till now...

Due to the International Status of the festival the Varna Summer Jazz page will only be available in English. When or even if there will be a Bulgarian version soon, is not clear yet. The festival of 2002 was a great success. Many marvelous musicians, great atmosphere! If you have missed it, press on the "Varna Summer menu" on the left, year 2002, to discover what you have missed!

01 - 07 - 2002

The festival will take place from 1 till 4 August, at the Archaeological Museum in Varna, Bulgaria. We hope to see you there!

20 - 03 - 2002

Now the festival has been organized for over a decade, it it time the information concerning the festival is made available outside the borders of Bulgaria also. Every year more Jazz fans and visiting tourists like to "catch" up with the Jazz events in Bulgaria. To make it possible for all Jazz fans and people whom are interested to know what will happen this summer and the summers after, this page is created. We hope you can find here what you are looking for and like to be able to welcome you to the next edition of the Varna Summer International Jazz Festival.
